So Everyone is Hydrating! What is Hydration and how does it help your hair?

So everyone is talking about steam hydration treatments for your hair. I personally have been getting them for the past 4 years or so, and I ABSOLUTELY love them. I feel like they have made all of the difference in me being able to wear my hair natural and still have body and shine without heavy products weighing it down. So what is this hydration process? What does it actually do? Well... I have done some research to help us understand.

Steam has been a technique of healing and relaxation since ancient times. Steam stimulates the immune system, lymphatic drainage, white blood cell count, circulation, mental clarity and muscle tone, while decreasing cellulite, stress toxins, pain and mental fatigue.

Steam Therapy is a deep conditioning treatment using water/steam, which is changed into vapor/steam form when heat is applied. The molecular size molecule penetrates the hair roots and fibers and releases moisture into the scalp thus allows scalp to cleanse, purify, open logged pores and release toxins.

SO STEAM HYDRATION TREATMENTS.........
Hydration treatments are recommended to deal with the dryness of hair. Regular treatments will help to restore your hair to its natural moisture content which is 10%. Factors like the environment, weather, heat styling, hair color, chemical damage, and daily routine maintenance all play a part in drying out our hair. Steaming the hair while deep conditioning allows your hair to absorb as much moisture as it will be able to take. Hydration treatments also help in opening up the pores and encourages any conditioning treatment to penetrate deeper into the hair cuticle and skin. The treatment also allows the scalp to cleanse, purify and release toxins. This in turn helps in unclogging your pores and giving your hair the maximum chance of re-growing.
After a steam treatment, hair that is prone to puffing up in humidity is less likely to do so. This  is because the hair has already absorbed as much moisture as it can hold. Therefore, the moisture that is in the air (humidity) will not effect your hair style!  If you schedule treatments regularly, you will help to make your hair humidity resistant. You will notice that your new hydrated hair strand will cause your hair to be silky smooth, shiny with have body and not lay limp. Getting a Steam Hydration Treatment is the first step to beautiful healthy hair. Will one treatment change the condition of your hair? No! But it is the first step of having silky smooth hair without weighing it down with products.
